Seahawks Fan Buzz: Bus bashing in honor of Blue Friday

Demolition fun at the Scrap-It recycling yard in Ferndale.

Demolition fun at the Scrap-It recycling yard in Ferndale.

Remember the Super Bowl video last year of the Broncos Blazer getting crushed at a Ferndale recycling company?

This year the folks at Scrap-It have outdone themselves. Watch as the giant Seahawks claw destroys a bus painted with a Patriots logo.

12th Man frenzy

It’s Blue Friday before the Seahawks face the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX (is that a number or a size at the big and tall men’s store?) and the entire state has pretty much lost its collective mind. Folks outside the Realm of the 12s: Do not try this at home.

Clue 1: Forget those moments of silence. Gov. Jay Inslee has issued an official proclamation calling on the state’s 7 million 12s to join in a moment of loudness on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at noon in support of the Seahawks. Get out there and yell.

Clue 2: Up in Everett, there’s a big Blue Friday celebration at 4 p.m. at the  Snohomish County Plaza. Vulcan’s (Richard) Sherman tank will be bringing the boom. Doesn’t every NFL team’s owner have a tank at his disposal?

Clue 3: Because apparently there’s nothing more pressing, the official King County Twitter account is looking for photos of your 12th Pets and the King County Metro Twitter account has a 12 in their Twitter profile photo. Don’t forget the buses with Seahawks logos in their display panels.

Clue 4: Over in Issaquah last week they made their own proclamation changing the name of the city to 12saquah for Super Bowl Sunday. That’s nice, but here at Fan Buzz Central, we particularly enjoy this video from the city of “Beast Mode: The Sasquatch Way.”

ClockTowerClue 5: Spokane shows its 12th Man spirit with some fancy lit up buildings of its own. The Clock Tower looks good in green and blue.

Clue 6: Count the Department of Transportation in. For the second year, they have renamed the state ferry fleet with the names of Seahawks players.

If you’re used to taking the Puyallup to Bainbridge Island, you will be riding the “M/V Marshawn Lynch” on Sunday.

This also may be the only time 5-foot-10 defensive back Earl Thomas (new name for the Walla Walla) will be  considered “jumbo.

It’s actually a wonder that anything productive is going on anywhere in the state.

Roar of the crowd

Looking for a place to watch the game with your fellow 12s? Here are a few spots around town where you can help create your own Legion of Boom.

Talking high-brow smack

We expect athletes and celebrities to talk a little smack to each other, but art museums?

The Seattle Art Museum and the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Mass., are wagering the loan of valuable pieces of artwork on Sunday’s Super Bowl.
From a post on SAM’s Facebook page: Hey New England! We challenge you to an ART WAGER on the big game! When the Seattle Seahawks win, you loan us a work of art that represents New England. If the unbelievable, unlikely, and unspeakable happens, we’ll loan you our magnificent Bierstadt painting “Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast”! YOU IN, The Clark?

The Massachusetts museum has accepted the artwork “throwdown” and offered up “West Point, Prout’s Neck,” by Winslow Homer, if the Seahawks win.

It feels so dangerous over in the art world!

Dogs, horses and beer

Yes, we’re all about that action, but sometimes we’re all about what happens in the gaps between the action. Which brings us to… drum roll… Budweiser once again did an early release of Super Bowl commercials. What’s better than a puppy, horses and beer? OK, maybe BETTER beer makes it better, but you know what we mean.

GoDaddy.com  created a parody ad, but ultimately pulled it from the Super Bowl lineup after receiving a big viewer backlash.

Speaking of films

Folks over at NFL Films must be feeling some Seahawks love: They wanted to make sure we knew that they would be releasing the official Super Bowl DVD on March 3.

“Super Bowl XLIX Champions ” will be available on Blu-Ray,  DVD and digital download.

Can’t get enough Fan Buzz? Wait, there’s more!

In case you missed it, the video of Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and the Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski on “Conan” Thursday night is the funniest thing we’ve seen during Super Bowl season here at the Fan Buzz. But this is your official adult-content warning! More from Thursday’s Seahawks Fan Buzz.

Don’t miss …
