Super Bowl looming with no clear favorite

As the Super Bowl grows ever closer to kickoff, there is no clear favorite among the Las Vegas sports books.

As I type this at about 4:45 Seattle time. the game is a consensus pick ’em, according to VegasInsider.com.

If it stays there, it would be the first time in Super Bowl history there would be no favorite.

According to VegasInsider, there have only been two games where the spread was less than 2.5 points — Super Bowl XVI in 1982 (49ers favored by one point) and Super Bowl VII in 1973 (Dolphins by one). The 49ers and Miami each won.

So for now, simply picking the winner also means — at most places, anyway — winning the bet, as well.
