Seahawks announce signing of seven free agents, including former UW WR Kevin Smith

The Seahawks today announced the signings of seven free agents, including former University of Washington receiver Kevin Smith, who was also in camp with the Seahawks last year.

The list also includes guard C.J. Davis, who played seven games with Carolina in 2010 and seven more with Denver in 2012 — the only player on this list who has appeared in an NFL regular season game. Davis was with Seattle through most of last pre-season, as well, before receiving an injury settlement at the end of camp.

The others signed today by Seattle are:  QB R.J. Archer, William & Mary; LS Luke Ingram, Hawaii; LB    Brendan Kelly, Wisconsin; DE Will Pericak, Colorado; and C Jared Wheeler, Miami.

Pericak has been in camps with Denver, Jacksonville and San Diego; here is some background on Kelly; Archer has spent the last four years in the Arena League; Ingram has been in camps with Jacksonville and the Steelers; and Wheeler was in camps last year with the Bills and Panthers (judging by that picture, Wheeler appears a candidate to be the scruffiest Seahawk since John Moffitt).

As a reminder, teams can now expand rosters up to 90, though they have to leave room for draft picks and other free agents, etc. Seattle will have a number of its own free agents whose contracts expire on March 10.
