The Seattle Sketcher

An illustrated journal of life in the Puget Sound region by Times artist Gabriel Campanario.

Oh, the summer!

The Seafair pirates declared the summer fun started last Saturday, but I was already on summer mode enjoying a few days off. They’re over now and I’m back to work, but I have some good memories to share. I spent some extra time with my family, taking my kids to swimming lessons, watching them play their Nintendos and also hosting my younger brother and his girlfriend, who were visiting from Spain.
Here are some sketches from those days:

From the observation deck at the Columbia Center (floor 73). In my opinion, the view from here is better than from the Space Needle. Plus, it only costs $5! My brother and his girlfriend loved it.

Two other highlights from showing them around: A stop at Twede’s in North Bend after going to Snoqualmie Falls and taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island. If you have guests this summer, I recommend the two easy one-day excursions. They were a hit with mine.
