Sketching a real campanario in Spain

I’ve spent the last week in northern Spain teaching at a summer workshop organized by the University of Zaragoza in Jaca, a small town in the Pyrenees that is a major destination for winter sports. They have actually bid to host the Olympic Games several times, including this year’s edition that was awarded to Vancouver.
I had a blast meeting fellow artists who attended the workshop about “Travelling with a sketchbook.” They came from Portugal, Italy and all corners of Spain. (See photos on this flickr group.)
As I get back to my routine, I thought of sharing a couple of drawings I did during the trip. This first one includes a real campanario, or bell tower, at Jaca’s cathedral, which dates from the 11th century.

And this one shows my connecting flight from Frankfurt to Barcelona.

You can see more of the drawings I did on my flickr page.
