My wife loves plants and gardening. She is going to be very jealous when I tell her that I went to the Washington Park Arboretum this afternoon. But I’m sure she’ll like to hear that Sunday is the annual Fall Bulb and Plant sale. I’ll offer to watch the kids at home if she wants to come and buy some Dutch Iris bulbs. Rita Sturm, one of the volunteers at the Graham Visitors Center who was putting them into bags, adding labels and organizing them in boxes, said you can’t go wrong with Dutch Iris.
The room was full of volunteers busy sorting out all the different types of bulbs. Volunteer resources manager Elly Lien said they’ve ordered 42,000 this year. That’s a lot of flowers, but I’m sure they won’t last.
