Shiny upside down boat, a bright spot at Lake Union Park

Don’t be put off by all the construction going on around Mercer St. and Lake Union Park. You can still walk all the way to the south end of the lake and take in one of my favorite views of Seattle.
That view just got better recently with the installation of a new public art project. The Blanche sculpture is a restored boat turned upside down to create a sound chamber. It features a shiny metallic surface that gives it a very futuristic look.
It will not be dedicated until September, when the park’s expansion project is complete, but it’s already in place for everyone to enjoy. Read more about the sculpture and the project in the City of Seattle ArtBeat blog.
