Sketched Nov. 10, 4:21 p.m.
A young man stares through the bus window, his hand holding his head. He seems to be deeply absorbed in thought. Should I show him my sketch? Why not, I thought.
Tam Hoang, who was on his way to downtown to get a haircut, didn’t mind my intrusion. He was very friendly and polite. He said he’s just starting his career as a model after being signed by an agency, the Seattle Models Guild.
Getting free haircuts is one of the perks of his new job, said Hoang, 20, but bigger reasons are leading him down a modelling and acting career path. He said the Asian American community is not very well represented on TV and advertisements, especially when it comes to male models.
As my bus stop approached, I wished Hoang good luck. Once his career takes off, I have a feeling I may not run into him again on the bus.
