Sounders FC’s 10 selections in expansion draft

Appreciate those who let me know where I could find the list, but I got mine up before I heard from you so thanks anyway. Here’s the link to my story on seattletimes.com.

I will file a follow-up post later today. Just a couple of pieces of news:

-GM Adrian Hanauer expects 30 to 35 players at training camp when it opens Jan. 26, 2009. The 10 players picked today are not guaranteed roster spots — they’ll have to earn their place on the 24-man roster.

-The new players get six weeks off per MLS collective bargaining agreement, then will report to Seattle in mid-January to get settled.

-The team wants to give every former USL Sounder a chance to try out for the MLS team, but will likely sign up to five USL players from Seattle or other USL teams. GK Chris Eylander is one USL Sounder whom the club will speak to about signing.

-A coach should be named before Christmas, Hanauer said.
