I did my best to do so tonight at the fashion show. Took some photos and got interviews with Kasey Keller, Freddie Ljungberg, Drew Carey and Adrian Hanauer. Unfortunately, my interview with Hanauer did not record — my bad — but he did tell me that the team is indeed trying to get defender Jeff Parke signed. Parke, an expansion draft pick, is the only one of the 10 players selected not under contract.
Parke said he going back to his native Philadelphia tomorrow to mull over his options, and both he and Hanauer said Parke is planning to go to Europe to talk with a team or teams there.
Hanauer said that he’ll submit a list of “discovery” players to the league early next week. Those are USL and international players he and technical director Chris Henderson have scouted and are interested in signing.
Ljungberg left for Los Angeles for business after last night’s event, but will be back to attend the Seahawks-Patriots game Sunday before heading back to London and then his native Sweden for Christmas. Part of the reason for his visit to Seattle is to look for a home in the area in which to live. I’ll transcribe the interview for another posting tomorrow.
I will also try to get some photos from tonight up a little later. ONE MORE THING: Carey said the marching band is to be known as the Sound Wave, and the membership association is to be called the Sounders FC Alliance.
