DCU Scheduling Change, Kirk Update
MLS has not even released the complete regular season league schedule yet, and already there has been a change to D.C. United’s previously announced home opener on March 28 at RFK Stadium: The opponent will be the Chicago Fire, not the San Jose Earthquakes. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
The league is planning to unveil the full calendar sometime next week.
As for DCU’s preseason plans, the “to-be-determined” gap in the schedule is tentatively set to be a trip to Puerto Rico Feb. 18-25 for training and perhaps a friendly against an undetermined opponent. Final details are being worked out and, barring complications, an official announcement will probably be made soon.
On a roster note, midfielder Quavas Kirk, who was not invited back for training camp, is expected to begin a trial with the Seattle Sounders.
