Alonso on his way

Osvaldo Alonso is on his way to Seattle from Miami today and is expected to join Sounders FC as soon as Tuesday for practice.

The midfielder from Cuba, who is believed to be one of Seattle’s discovery claims, was the USL First Division Rookie of the Year in 2008 for the Charleston Battery. He defected from the Cuban national team in 2007.

Here’s my story now on the Times’ Web site.

And here’s more on Alonso from the Battery Web site.

While I’m here I thought I’d link to the Kasey Keller piece I wrote for today’s Times.
