Yup, that’s what they call it, officially, for Sounders FC. Saludos a todos mis amigos desde el gran estadio donde hace sol.
(Greetings to all of my friends from this grand stadium, where the sun is shining).
Practice was held on the artificial turf here this morning and just concluded. It was pretty cold, but the players were able to test out the turf and get some work in. I’ll have more in a story and training camp glance later today online.
A couple of quick things — just to clarify, tickets to the Chelsea match are part of the 18-game season-ticket packages now on sale. So if you buy season tickets, you get into all 15 regular-season MLS games plus Chelsea plus two yet-to-be determined and presumably international friendlies, which are currently in the works. That’s 18 games in all.
Second, Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid said the roster is “about 75, 80” percent set.
Third, I counted 27 players at practice today. F-M Lamar Neagle returned to UNLV to finish classes after getting a look in California, and D Kyle Schmid, the coach’s son, is no longer with the team.
