Chances are…

…that I’m not going to sing the Johnny Mathis song of the same title, but rather that the MLS Cup is indeed coming to Seattle.

There have been reports floating about that the league championship game will be played at Qwest Field in November, and I’ve been informed that “Game C” in the full 18-game season ticket package, according to a team ticket sales representative, is the MLS Cup. Thanks to a reader (you know who you are) for that tip.

There are 15 regular-season games, plus the three friendlies in the season ticket package. One friendly is Chelsea and there remains another game to be decided.

I contacted the Major League Soccer office and was given this response from a league official:

“While we are close to finalizing an agreement with the host venue for MLS Cup 2009, that contract has not been signed. Thus, I cannot confirm Seattle as the host venue for MLS Cup 2009.”

Stay tuned…something is bound to be made official soon.
