The match against the Colorado Rapids is tonight at 6:30. No one, not even media, is allowed to watch from inside Qwest per team request.
Sounders FC probably won’t field the entire lineup it plans to go with to open the regular season, seeing as Fredy Montero isn’t with the team and coach Sigi Schmid still wants to look at some players competing for starting jobs.
So here’s something to chew on…Portland took another step closer to getting an MLS team.
Here’s an excerpt from an article in The Oregonian:
“The financing deal that could bring Major League Soccer to Portland made it to the playoffs by a narrow City Council vote Wednesday, but a last-minute change left a $15 million hole in the plan.”
St. Louis is also moving toward getting a team and could be competing with Portland to join Vancouver as the next two MLS expansion teams to be announced.
Here’s an excerpt from an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
“The group bidding to bring a Major League Soccer expansion franchise to St. Louis received a boost on Wednesday when Anheuser-Busch said it would give the group the Soccer Park near Fenton as a site for a new stadium and lobby the league on St. Louis’ behalf.”
