Sounders FC

Daily coverage of Seattle Sounders FC, MLS and world soccer.

Los Super Cinco

My top five Sounders FC performances from Week Two:

1. Fredy Montero¡Golaaaaaazo! I’m still amazed by the distance and spin on that kick, the way it crossed up the Real Salt Lake goalkeeper. Give Montero credit for hanging in there against the constant fouling and grabbing for much of the game.

2. Kasey Keller — Five saves, and split those up between the two halves. MLS Player of the Week, enough said. ¡Portero! Portero! (a typical chant in Mexican soccer directed at the keeper when he makes a big save).

3. Osvaldo Alonso — Another solid game for the midfielder, who recorded assists on both Sounders FC goals. He made Montero’s goal happen when he took the ball from an RSL player and dribbled up the field to set up the play.

4. Steve Zakuani — The rookie’s speed and shiftiness led to Seattle’s first goal. He left his defender scrambling and hit Nate Jaqua with the perfect cross for the score.

5. Nate Jaqua — Scored his first goal of the season and sixth vs. RSL in his past six games against that team.
