Quite a few candidates this week but the stars of the week are:
GK Kasey Keller — comes back from suspension and continues scoreless streak, which is now at 389 minutes.
MID Steve Zakuani — Goal and assist in last Saturday’s win.
FWD Sebastien Le Toux — Two goals, two assists in U.S. Open Cup victory last night.
DEF Tyrone Marshall — Superb technique on a tackle in the San Jose game and just a stopper on defense.
TIE between MID Stephen King and FWD Roger Levesque — King got his first goal in first important game as Sounders FC player, and Levesque records three assists in same U.S. Open Cup game.
I think fans can feel good about the depth on this team. Sanna Nyassi had a solid game last night and there were scant few lapses on defense. The reserves are playing together in those reserve games so there is some chemistry being built among them. Patrick Ianni moved up from defender to the midfield, giving the team another option perhaps, and Le Toux seems to be a better fit at forward for now until he can fully grasp the wing midfielder spot.
Here’s Nyassi in action last night, thanks to Times staff photographer Dean Rutz.
