Some quotes from Sigi Schmid, 4/30

(On goals for this weekend’s game at Chicago) “Obbviously, we’d like to continue what we’ve done the last couple of games, which is score goals. We’ve been a team when we score goals we generally come out on the good side of the equation at the end of the game. So that’s our goal for this weekend. But they’re a good team. Obviously they’re at home. They haven’t lost a game. They’ve got some good talented players. Last year they were a very good defensive team as well. We have to be on top of our game to have a chance.”

(On Chicago’s four draws thus far this season) “Sometimes it just happens. You get into games where you draw. Obviously they were disappointed when they had the draw with Kansas City, because they were leading two-nothing and they were ecstatic when they drew in Columbus because they were down two-nothing. So there’s good draws. There’s bad draws. We would’ve probably taken a draw out of the Kansas City game if we could’ve, but it didn’t happen that way. So it’s a situation that just happens sometimes in games. I wouldn’t say that a team plays to try to get to a draw. I don’t think that’s Chicago’s style.”

(On Sebastien Le Toux playing up front going forward) “We’ll play game-by-game. We’ll let the game dictate to us who’s good. For Seba (Le Toux) to get some minutes up front that’s obviously where he’s comfortable. He responded well and got a couple of goals. Maybe could’ve had a couple more, if a little more good fortune on finishing. It’s good for our team to know that that’s an option. And that’s something we can turn to if we need to in a game.”

(On fitness level following Tuesday’s Open Cup match with Real Salt Lake)

“With (the players) who played on Tuesday I think they’re fine. Riley is pretty fit, so that probably looks good from his standpoint. And Zakuani, we’re trying to build his fitness, and I don’t think the 60 minutes that he played is going to affect him negatively in Chicago this weekend.”
