Live game blog, Sounders FC vs. Chicago

I have found more pockets of SSFC fans in the stands, and I take back my original assertion that the stadium is not half full. It is. Props to the ECS…they are HERE.

The Fire have a live dog mascot named Humo. That’s “ooh-moh.” Means “smoke” in Spanish.

Sounders FC in all green. When will they break out the blues? Oh well asi es la vida. Here we go.

Marshall gets yellow card one minute in. Hard foul.

8th min — Blanco tries to start a run, Ljungberg takes it away easily.

9th min — Chicago with a chance as Keller comes out but can’t get to the ball, it’s cleared away. Fire have had two good chances.

11th min — Ball comes to Riley, he heads it back to Keller but the header is almost over Keller’s head and into the net. No one in red even close to the two of them. That was dangerously close to an own goal. Now Blanco tries a little razzle dazzle with a back heel pass and the shot is over the goal.

*Forgot all about the Bulls Game 7. NBA is dead to me now that Blazers are out of the playoffs.

15th min — Blanco to McBride to Nyarko almost nets a goal for Chicago, shot wide.

*The Fire supporters group behind Keller is really loud. And bilingual. They just chanted an obscenity in Spanish at Keller as he goal-kicked.

-Blanco has James Riley tied up in knots. Shot fakes, little dekes and moves.

20th min — Nyarko just had a great chance stopped by the one of the sideposts. Keller never touched it. Very close to first goal of game.

31st — Zakuani tries to make something happen with a shot from the left that he tried to bend in, but it goes wide.

39th min — Nyarko crosses beautifully to McBride who just can’t a foot on it and it’s a goal kick. Another “whew” moment for Sounders FC.

*Sounders FC seems to be sleepwalking through this game. Very lucky to be 0-0 right now.

42nd min — Hurtado takes down Blanco roughly but no call for foul. Blanco throws a fit. He’s fuming mad. Play on.

44th min — what a tackle by Ljungberg on Fire’s Segares. TEXTBOOK.

Extra time — Corner for Ljungberg as Seattle gets its going on offense near end of the half. Now it’s halftime. 0-0.

SECOND HALF — no subs for Seattle to start.

48th min — Montero red carded for going airborne on Segares and fouling him hard, in ref’s eyes. Hard to see on replay. Montero is out. Sounders FC at 10 men rest of the way. So he will miss next game too.

*Anyone see the foul on Montero? Couldn’t see the replay well, was it a good/bad call from TV perspective?

55th min – Soumare yellow after hit on Keller in goal.

56th min – Le Toux in, Zakuani out for Sounders FC.

*All about survival now for Seattle and getting out of here with a point. Fire keeps coming.

67:42 — Marco Pappa from Blanco after he draws the double team and Pappa beats Keller near post. Just gets it past him. There goes Keller’s scoreless streak. 1-0 Chicago.

74th min — HUGE GOAL Sounders FC…Ljungberg corner kick, gets through to Marshall who left foots it past the keeper and it’s tied at 1.

After Riley saves a goal with his outstretched foot, 82nd minute and Stephen King, who played so well in the U.S. Open Cup game, makes his MLS regular-season debut. He’s in for Ljungberg.

SOunders FC just trying to hang on, 4 min extra time
