Some Sigi Schmid quotes from today:
(On playing against his former team in the Los Angeles Galaxy) “It’s been so many years now. It’s just another game. Certainly, still having a house down there in Manhattan Beach, I still know a lot of the Galaxy front office people. It’s always a good one. When you win the game you always feel good about it. For me, it’s three points like every other game.”
(On Nathan Sturgis) Nate is a good player. He was close to starting for us at the beginning of the year, and then he took an injury, so that changed that. Technically, he’s very good on the ball. He’s very versatile. We’re playing him at left back. He’s at his best position. He can also play midfield. He can also play on the right side of the back. He’s played center back at the under-20 level. So he can play a number of different places. Where he helps us is he’s pretty good technically with the ball. He’s a good passer out of the back. He’s usually pretty composed, and that helps us as we build.
(On Sturgis’ tough match-ups this season) “Last week he got matched up with (Cuauhtemoc) Blanco at times, with (Marco) Pappa at times. (John) Thorrington was out there, overlapping a lot. So he had a lot to deal with last week. I think as a player the more experiences like that that you can put into your backpack, the better you become, and the better you deal with those situations the next time.”
