Bremerton, Wash. – Atop the USL’s Premier Development League’s Northwest Division (2-0-1, 7 pts. +7 goal differential), the Kitsap Pumas take on the Cascade Surge (Ore.) this Saturday night at Bremerton Memorial HS Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The Pumas come into this match leading the division’s US Open Cup standings. A win Saturday virtually assures the club of a berth in the prestigious in-season tournament – a tournament formatted in a manner, which means that qualifiers can face virtually any level of opponent from US professional and amateur competition.
“We’re hoping for the best,” said owner Robin Waite. “We’ve done well to get into this position, now the guys need to take care of business Saturday night against a very tough Cascade squad.”
Cascade (1-1-0, 3 points) enters the match coming off a heartbreaking 4-3 loss this past Sunday afternoon at Tacoma.
The match also marks another first for Kitsap – the club’s first-ever fan promotion, Puma Night. The global apparel giant will provide official Puma merchandise to the first 750 fans most notably including seat cushions.
Notes: Kitsap forwards Spencer Schomaker and Steve Phillips remain ensconced in the league’s Top 20 scoring table while M/F Tony Kerry remains in the Top 25 – all despite the club playing at least one fewer match than other league leaders.
