That would be the Kitsap Pumas, which defeated a team I used to cover WAYYY back in the day, the Cascade Surge from Salem, Ore.
Here’s info on the 3-0 Kitsap win from Ben Pecora:
“It is expected that Kitsap will receive its Cup opponent as soon as Tuesday of the coming week. The club has already put in a bid to host its first-ever Cup match at home, on the Kitsap Peninsula.
The home match was played at Bremerton Memorial HS Stadium before a crowd of 889.
Goals were scored by Stephen Mohn; Tony Kerr (pk) and Mark Lee off an incredible assist by Matt Friesen.
Due to a spate of yellow and red cards, Cascade finished the match with only eight players on the field.
Tickets for the Pumas next home match, June 6 vs. Portland are now on sale.
For more information visit www.kitsapsoccerclub.com or call 360-377-6008 during regular business hours.”
I was looking at the teams already in the tournament and love some of the nicknames.
Favorites: Austin Aztex, Cleveland City Stars, Crystal Palace Baltimore, Mississippi Brilla (what’s Brilla?), Arizona Sahuaros, Lynch’s FC.
