Champions League champs coming to Seattle

You know that I’m talking about FC Barcelona. Or “Bar-the-lona” as they say in Spain.

A thorough victory for FCB. Manchester United looked frustrated and out of sync.

Speaking of Europe and Manchester, I got a great email from David Leaver, a lecturer for a business school in Manchester, England. Here’s what he writes, along with his best wishes for a good Sounders FC season:

I visit Seattle a lot to visit friends and family. I shopped in Value Village, Capitol Hill and picked up a Seattle Times jacket, as it was raining, for $6.

I wore it to Burnley v. Sheffield United at Wembley Stadium, London for the play-off game to get into the English Premier League. The winner earns around $125 million from TV rights etc.

My team won, Burnley won 1-0 and gets back into the top division after 33 years.

I’m on the right of the picture standing next to Martin Dobson who played for Burnely, Everton and England. To say the least we are happy.

Here’s David (in Times jacket) with Martin Dobson. Thanks to David for permission to post. Click on photo if you can’t view it on post.
