Bonus action: Fire v. Chivas USA

Top two teams in MLS live on ESPN2. Sweet shot by Nagamura for CUSA first goal, Blanco with PK for Chicago, then Maykel Galindo just drilled home a PK so it’s 2-1 Chivas.

Chivas has the oft-injured Galindo back in the lineup. Chivas USA is Seattle’s next opponent after Columbus.

Sunny nights in Seattle are the best. Since I’ve been giving some space on this blog to Kitsap of PDL, wanted to be an equal opportunist and thank Alexander Caulfield for this info from the Seattle Wolves of the PDL.

Wolves Bolster Line-Up Ahead of Kitsap Clash

(TUKWILA, WA) – After defeating the Portland Timbers U23 3-1 on May 20th, the Seattle Wolves Football Club (3-1-1) will engage in another first place battle atop the Northwest Division of the Premier Development League.

This time the Wolves welcome Kitsap Pumas SC (3-0-1) to Starfire Stadium on Saturday May 30th at 7:30 PM. Both clubs are deadlocked atop the division with Portland, and the contest will be crucial in deciding the division champion.

Seattle and Kitsap have both enjoyed success in their inaugural PDL campaigns, attracting large crowds and setting the pace in perhaps the league’s most competitive division.

Wolves manager Seth Spidahl has been pleased to welcome U.S. Youth National team players Mykell Bates and Brandon Zimmerman to training this week. Both players recently completed their spring seasons at Santa Clara University, and are eager to step onto the pitch for Seattle for this first time this season.

Bates is a strong central defender that featured as the U.S. National Team captain in South Korea during the 2007 U-17 World Cup.

Zimmerman’s versatility has allowed him to play midfield and defense for both club and country. The former Crossfire Premier standout returns to Seattle for the summer months to prepare for his sophomore year at Santa Clara.

Additionally, prolific striker Fernando Monge returns to the Wolves after completing his first year at UCLA. Monge will be joined by Bruins teammate Andy Rose, as the former Bristol City Youth Team captain aims to make his presence felt in Spidahl’s midfield.

Wolves leading scorer Casey Cunningham is currently top of the PDL scoring charts with six goals in 2009. The University of Washington forward and Crossfire product will look to build upon this tally against a formidable Kitsap defense.

The Pumas are coming off of a 3-0 victory over the Cascade Surge, propelling the club to their first U.S. Open Cup berth. John Wedge’s side will play host to the Portland Timbers USL-1 team in this first round tie on June 9th.
