Talked to Sigi Schmid today, asked him about the aftermath of his talk with the team about focusing too much on the officiating in games.
“For us, the thing right now is we’re selfish, I guess that’s the best way to put it,” Schmid said. “We’re an expansion team, and we’re trying to do in six months what it takes some clubs two years to do, because we want to get there sooner. That’s what I explained to the guys. We’re trying to make the transition from being a good team to becoming a very good team, and we’re trying to do it in an accelerated fashion. So that means we’ve got to concentrate even more…So if we’re distracted by the referee, that’s going to take away from that, because it’s not as automatic for us on the field as it is for a Houston, that has a core of seven players that have played 120 matches together. So it makes a big difference.”
