Sounders FC practice, June 12

To clarify, Sounders FC is third in MLS in yellow cards with 28.

Not much from practice today. Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Nate Jaqua were doing conditioning drills away from the team, as they won’t play Saturday. Didn’t see Freddie Ljungberg doing much either but I would assume that he is going to play this weekend.

Steve Zakuani has twin “Zs” shaved into the sides of his head. It looks like this:

Osvaldo Alonso will be used off the bench if at all this Saturday as he continues to come back from a strained quadriceps. Sigi Schmid said he’s been cautious with three games in the span of a week coming up.

“When I watch him play, he’s very comfortable playing short passes, etc., but still hesitates to hit a long ball with his right foot at this stage,” Schmid said. “He hit some at the end of practice in a controlled setting. Until I think he’s 100 percent comfortable hitting that ball with his right foot, we’re probably not going to start him but he’ll be available to us off the bench.”

Schmid indicated that Tyrone Marshall and Patrick Ianni will be the center backs Saturday vs. San Jose.
