Game thread, Sounders FC v. DC United, Qwest Field

Sounders FC in the 4-1-3-2 set, 7:39 game on.

Great run by Riley to Montero who centers at the last minute, great chance but nothing.

Now it’s Jaqua going up for a header and saved. 5th min.

6 – Le Toux pokes the ball free and center to Jaqua who takes out a DCU player and just misses. Jaqua might have been close to getting a yellow there.

7– Ljungberg goes down hard when he is bumped. Now FL to Le Toux and the shot caroms off DCU player in 8th minute. Seattle is all over DCU so far and so close to putting one in. Keller hasn’t been tested.

11- DCU with a corner, Keller punches it to other side. Its crossed back in and Jaqua heads it out.

13– DCU is mugging Sounders FC players and no calls being made. It looks like they can’t keep up with SSFC and have to resort to grabbing and pushing.

15 — Keller with a great save on a direct shot from Chris Pontius. The guy from MTV. Kidding. Fine save.

Now I look up and the game is on ESPN2. College baseball before. Sorry fans. You have missed some exciting chances but no goals.

Fred is taken off the field injured. And DCU is playing with 10 men. Fred is walking back to the bench and DCU is getting a sub up. 21st min.

Sub for Fred (21) Ange N’Silu is in.

23– Evans dragged down hard by Pontius and he is holding shoulder and wrist. Now back on after a minute or so.

Question: Are you folks at home not seeing the game yet? We have it on in the press box.

29th — Wahl lofts a high ball to Montero who gets a head on it but hits it over the net.

34 — GOAL DCU Pontius takes the long ball from Quaranta and puts it in. Keller is so frustrated that he kicks the ball into the crowd. 1-0 DCU.

36 — Montero close again on a header just wide.

37 — Fans roar in anger as ref gets in the way of Le Toux trying to get the ball.

38 — GOAL SEATTLE: Alonso with a mighty strike from way out, off pass from James Riley. Evans gets an assist too. The shot is from maybe 28 yards and Wicks the GK deflects it into the net as he tries to knock it out. 1-1

45 — Jaqua takes feed from Montero, spins and kicks a little bouncer that looks like it deflected off of DEF Marc Burch’s legs. The ball eludes the keeper for a Seattle GOAL. 2-1 Seattle, what a half.

OK…please people tell me, is this game on ESPN2 now or have you seen any of it on the channel? Halftime here now.

SSFC’s second goal has been ruled an own goal.

Good job to the person who provided the TV link! Shout out to you. Hey, if someone could please tell me the exact moment in the game when it finally pops up on ESPN2 I would much appreciate it.

Thanks, Jose

SECOND HALF ON

46- Montero with shot saved by Wicks.

51- Ljungberg with a run and shot tipped away. Wow, FL is a player and he really makes a difference out there. He does some impressive things with the ball.

57 — Montero with a pretty GOAL. Unassisted. He dribbles and fakes and has Burch out of position before shooting with the left foot and into the net. 3-1 Seattle.

61 — Riley is down and taken off on stretcher. They’re looking at his right knee.

GOOD NEWS: Your calls PAID OFF. ESPN2 will show this match in its entirety at 10 p.m.! That just came down. Enjoy.

63 — Gomez shoots it past Keller to his right, and it’s 3-2 SEA.

67 — Montero out, Zakuani in

71 — Zakuani shot saved.

77 — I’m on deadline. Writing. Le Toux tries to loop it over for Ljungberg, too far. King in for Ljungberg, who applauds the fans on his way off the field.

85 — Jaqua out, Ianni in for defense as Seattle tries to hold on.

87 — Alonso in pain after a slide and fall, he’s got his quad wrapped but will have to stay in the game.

88– OWN GOAL Seattle….Marshall heads it in on accident. It’s 3-3. Pontius crossed the ball.

FINAL 3-3
