Sigi Schmid on players for U.S. Open Cup

(On the five foreign player limit in Open Cup games)
“Well obviously we’ve got seven, so there are two that we can’t play. We’ll sort of see where that is. Jarrod Smith is injured right now, so that’s obviously one. We wanted to see how Seba (Sebastien Le Toux) was doing. (Freddie) Ljungberg is another one. We’ll see probably between Seba and Ljungberg as to who the other one is at this point.”
(On expecting Le Toux and Ljungberg to be available for Saturday vs. Houston)
“Yeah. Seba has got a little bit of a knock. If he can avoid getting kicked again on it, he should be OK by the time he hits Houston. And Ljungberg, this period of time from our Colorado game to the Houston game ended up giving us a nice little window since he had missed preseason. And it was something we talked about, and he was very excited about it, that it gave a window to work on some fitness things for him that he wanted to work on. So we were happy we were able to do that.”
(On if Kasey Keller will play against Kansas City)
“Yeah. What I said yesterday was that this is where a lack of a reserve league shows through. We really haven’t had a chance to get Terry Boss into a game. It’s been a while since he played a game. It’s unfair to say to your team that we’re going to give a guy his first game in seven months and it’s going to be an Open Cup quarterfinal game. I don’t think that’s fair to Terry and that’s not fair to the players. As long as Keller is holding up, and he’s holding up, and getting the right amounts of still rest and work he can play and that’s probably the way we’ll go.”
