I wrote about it for Monday’s paper.
The comments in the story raised an interesting question: the championship match, assuming Seattle gets there, is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 1. That’s a Tuesday after a Sounders FC home match, and then the Seahawks have a preseason game Sept. 3. Assuming Sounders FC will bid with Qwest Field in mind for the title game, that’s a quick turnaround time to get the football lines on the field for the Seahawks.
I think it can be done. In fact, there must be a way to get it done fast, otherwise the team wouldn’t make a bid in the first place. Of course, this is under the assumption that the U.S. Open Cup match would be at Qwest and not Starfire, and is hypothetical anyway because Seattle has to qualify for the game.
