This from Washington Post’s Steven Goff, whose soccer blog is one of the standard-setters out there….
D.C. United has won the right to host the U.S. Open Cup championship game, meaning a victory over USL-1 Rochester next Tuesday will set up a final showdown against Houston or Seattle on Sept. 2 at RFK Stadium. The U.S. Soccer Federation, which oversees the tournament, also announced that, depending on the semifinal results, Seattle would host Rochester or Houston would welcome the Rhinos on Sept. 1.
That Seattle-Rochester game would be a 1 p.m. start. Midweek matinee soccer, oh yeah.
OK, so there you have it. Beat the Dynamo, and it’s off to the capital, assuming DCU defeats Rochester…Man I’d love to meet Barack Obama. But I am getting ahead of myself.

I have a call into Sounders FC seeking confirmation on its end, FYI.
UPDATE 4:41: It’s confirmed on U.S. Soccer’s Open Cup site..
