Well, Chelsea certainly showed why it is so good, first preseason game or not. I thought Seattle got its chances but there is a big difference between Chelsea’s defenders at the EPL level and those of Seattle.
I like Marshall, Hurtado and Riley and all the rest but you have to give credit to a superior team making the most of limited true chances to score. Sounders FC’s defense got schooled by Sturridge, Anelka, and Lampard, among others.
The crowd was fantastic. The game was fairly entertaining and it was fun to watch Chelsea with all of its skill. Now THAT was soccer.
Overall a nice showing for the city and the team, and good for the young guys and reserves to get in there and play. Now I want to go home and see the second half of that U.S. game.
Now we all turn our attention to the U.S. Open Cup match. I have to think that playing Chelsea will only help against the Dynamo. Guys got in, played, got their rest and since no starter played the full game except Tyrone Marshall, they should be fresh for Houston.
Did anyone ride the light rail over to Qwest?
