First, all I know about the arrival of Everton FC is that the EPL team will train at Starfire starting sometime this week, perhaps Tuesday, in preparation for the MLS-All-Star Game in Sandy, Utah. Practices I’m sure are closed to the public. Here is Everton’s traveling squad, from the team Web site:
Carlo Nash, Tim Howard, Tony Hibbert, Phil Neville, Leighton Baines, Joleon Lescott, Joseph Yobo, Seamus Coleman, Jack Rodwell, James Wallace, Jose Baxter, Jo, Leon Osman, Tim Cahill, Steven Pienaar, Louis Saha, James Vaughan, Marouane Fellaini, Yakubu.

The team worked out at Starfire Stadium. Highlight was the PK contest for money, which Nate Jaqua won, and Ben Dragavon was the keeper with the most saves.
At first the players wanted Fredy Montero to win because he promised he would take the team to eat if he won the prize money, coach Sigi Schmid said. But allegiances to players changed quickly.
Schmid was asked about the bicycle kick by Patrick Ianni, who is injured and not expected to play against Houston tomorrow, that beat the Dynamo on July 11 at Qwest.
“It was a bicycle but the kickstand was down,” Schmid said. “If you watch it, his hand was down. We haven’t done a lot of extra training on that.”
There is one more Chelsea thing I wanted to share…follow this link to former Times staff photographer Rod Mar’s “Beyond the Best Seat in the House” photo blog. If you read my blog, you know what I think of Rod’s work. See for yourself. Really.
