Good morning Sounders FC nation

I start the day by linking to the story in today’s paper. Many of you read the Fredy Montero story yesterday but I added some other info below that.
The team will practice today, then play tomorrow against Chicago and take Sunday through next Wednesday off for the All-Star break. The next full team practice is Thursday. I will be making the trip to Utah to see the local four representatives, so of course I’ll have updates on the blog.
How about Mexico last night? Winning on PKs. Costa Rica is a quality opponent for sure so that’s one of El Tri’s best wins in a while. The atmosphere at Chicago looked crazy. Definitely a “home” game for Mexico. Most of them are in the U.S. So we get another U.S.-Mexico Gold Cup final.
Locally, congratulations to the PDL Seattle Wolves, who won their match against the U-23 Portland Timbers 3-2 yesterday. Here’s a summary from Alex Caulfield:

Wolves striker Alex Chursky scored three goals and sealed the victory in the 90th minute for Seattle. The win allows Seattle to advance in the national tournament, and the Wolves will play West Sound rivals the Kitsap Pumas on Saturday July 25th at 7:30 PM.

Seattle was down 2-1 in the 81st minute and came back. So the Wolves are in the PDL Northwest Division final, which will be played at Bremerton HS Memorial Stadium..
More local news: A couple of ex-UW guys who spent time with Sounders FC have moved on to other teams. Ely Allen has signed with D.C. United after playing for the Wolves, according to the Wolves’ postgame report from yesterday, and Kevin Forrest has signed with the USL-1 Portland Timbers for the remainder of the season.
