Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic joins FC Barcelona; more than 60,000 fans welcome star striker
After intense negotiations, FC Barcelona and Inter Milan came to an agreement that will bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Camp Nou for the upcoming season.
Ibrahimovic was introduced today in front of more than 60,000 Barca supporters at Camp Nou Stadium.
The Swedish striker spent four seasons at Inter Milan, winning the Italian Serie A titles (2007, 2008, 2009) and two Italian Super Cups (2006, 2008). In 2008 Ibrahimovic notched 25 goals and took home the Capocannoniere, the award for the Italian Serie A leading scorer. Ibrahimovic tallied 57 goals in 88 appearances with the Nerazzurri. Ibrahimovic has played for Malmo FF (Sweden/1999-2002), Ajax Amsterdam (Netherlands/2002-2005) and Juventus (2004 – 2006).
2. FC Barcelona thrashes Egypt’s Al-Ahly 4-1
With goals from Bojan, Rueda, Jeffren and Pedro, FC Barcelona defeated Al-Ahly (Egypt ) 4-1 on Sunday in its final match of the Wembley Cup. Barca took the lead on an early strike from Bojan in the 15th minute. Al-Ahly forward El Agizy scored in the 30th minute to tie the game at 1-1. However, Barcelona proved too much for the Egyptian side when Rueda scored in the 41st minute to put Barca up for good. Barca continued to dominate in the second half, using goals from Jeffren (55′) and Pedro (66′) to seal the 4-1 victory at the famed Wembley Stadium.
In the first game of the Wembley Cup Barcelona tied Tottenham 1-1. Bojan scored in the 32nd minute to give Barca the lead, however, Jake Livermore put away a late equalizer in the 82nd minute to tie the game 1-1.
