“They’re a team that’s going to attack, that’s going to try and score goals, that wants to win the game, and hopefully we can use that to our advantage because maybe that opens them up a little bit in the back.”
Schmid said Freddie Ljungberg will be missed more now because the team is more integrated as a group and guys feel comfortable in their roles.
“It changes. Yeah, somebody can step in and play, but they’re not going to play the way Ljungberg plays. They’re a different style. They’re not going to drop in that hole as much, not going to sometimes go out on the flanks and things like that. So we have capable replacements, it’s not a problem whether its Nyassi or Le Toux, whether we play Stephen King or whomever…yeah it changes our team a little bit but we’ll still be successful.”
On the schedule over the rest of the season:
“It is what it is. We knew what it was at the beginning of the year when we looked at it…we’ve played seven games on the road and we’ve gotten seven points. We’d like to get a little more than a point a game on the road and if we can up that total, then we’ll be good.”
On Brad Evans:
“We’ve been playing him [in practice] in the middle of midfield which is his position, which is the one that he earned and won, and he’s not going to lose it because he left for the national team.”
Hmmm…wonder if that creates a logjam when Ljungberg is back from his suspension. Easy to say that Evans and Alonso will be in the middle Sunday, but what after that?
