The information I’ve been given is that Sounders FC spoke with the Colombian soccer federation about its callup of Montero to the national team, and told the federation that it needed Montero for the game against Real Salt Lake with plenty at stake for the team. So it sounds like the Colombian federation was OK with Seattle having Montero for this Saturday’s game, and Montero, who was at practice today, won’t have to leave the team for a friendly against El Salvador Aug. 7.
Now, as for next week, the federation also wants Montero for an Aug. 12 friendly against Venezuela. Since that is a recognized international fixed FIFA date and Aug. 7 is not, Montero could be leaving Sounders FC next week for that match. That has yet to be determined.
