This was in the Sounders FC weekly notes:
The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee suspended Revolution head coach Steve Nicol one game for conduct that led to his dismissal from New England’s game against Toronto FC on Aug. 1. Nicol already missed the Revolution’s 2-1 loss to the L.A. Galaxy (Aug. 8) and will conclude the suspension during New England’s trip to face Seattle Sounders FC on Aug. 20. In his place, assistant coach Paul Mariner will lead the team from the bench.
Mariner, you might recall, was one of the guys being talked about as a candidate to become Sounders FC’s head coach last year, but that was speculation and it became clear that Sigi Schmid was the man the organization targeted.
