Sounders FC in blue kits, game thread vs. Houston: Naranja contra azul

The blue brought Seattle luck last time….
Dynamo introduces its starters on the field, not before they come out as in Seattle.
Not a full house tonite. Plenty of seats to be had pero hay mucha naranja por todas partes
7:36, 87 degrees outside when game kicks off.
4 – Ljungberg makes a run, has a shot, takes it, and Onstad deflects, knocked out just before it crosses the goal line by Barrett, who hustled back after getting beat.
Two things. Ljungberg is a HUGE difference maker for Seattle, and that goal would have been HUGE on the road. But not to be.
6 — Alonso’s tackle sends the ball to Kamara on the run, the shot, and Keller comes up very big by getting a hand on it. Now its even. Both teams have taken a goal from the each other.
13 — Yellow to The Stache, Levesque, for a hard tacke on Cochrane. Nice job to sell it by Cochrane.
20 — Yellow to Dynamo’s Boswell for a tackle on Ljungberg.
Sounders FC got the attack going early, but it’s been all Dynamo for a while now.
22 — Ljungberg on the attack, high cross to Evans, too high. Sounders FC passng has not been crisp. Ljungberg has played very well though.
24 — Gonzalez in for Levesque who can’t get the shot away. Roger should have taken it without putting a touch on it first.
Looks like Ljungberg is playing where he wants out there, not necessarily staying in the midfield. Levesque runs up but is playing back more than Freddie.
28 — The cross to Le Toux, can’t shoot from the side.
29 — What a pass to Kamara, but Keller beats him to the ball to rescue Seattle.
El Batalion is doing a chant I heard in an Argentina league game. NICE!!!
36 — Holden fakes the set piece, Davis takes it, the header by Cameron and it’s in for a goal. 1-0 Houston.
Took some time to go down to the crowd and see Oscar de la Hoya get in there with the people. Video to follow….
Wow! What a personal highlight to see the champ up close. I have to say I’m pretty impressed that he came out to be with the fans. Even it was only for a few minutes.
Not to get away from the blog, but I had to take advantage of this chance.
Back we go to the second half, can Sounders FC get the equalizer…
And they do! But no! 47th min , called back for offside. Jaqua to Ljungberg, back to Jaqua, the shot, deflected to Alonso for the goal, but they call it back. Replay is inconclusive to me. Sigi was shaking his head.
I get the sense Seattle is still stunned from not getting that goal. Houston right now, in the 61st minute, is content to hold the ball. Ljungberg has now gone past that 60-minute mark he talked about playing Friday.
63 — Le Toux tries to pound it over Onstad’s head on the fly, Onstad blocks it.
64 — Zakuani is in, Levesque out. Maybe Roger struggled tonight, but I thought it was good to shake up the lineup a bit and get him some minutes. Whatever Sigi has to do to change the momentum, is what I see.
67 — Oh, well when it’s going bad its going bad…ZAkuani a clear net, great cross from Ljungberg Zakuani just blows a great chance.
70 — And there it is, Riley down the side, cross to Zakuani with the touch to Jaqua who puts it in. We’re tied at 1. Wow. Sounders FC has turned up the pressure in the last few minutes and got something to show for it.
74 — Luis Landin, the new player for Houston, is about to check in.
76 — Landin in with Craig Waibel, big hand from the fans for Landin, making his debut.
Tonight’s attendance, 17,063.
82 — Sounders FC sub, Ianni for Hurtado. Now it is Seattle pulling the stall tactic other teams have deployed against it.
83 — Holden with the shot, misses wide. The press box just went “Ooooohhh” and so did the crowd.
88 — Vagenas in, Ljungberg out. Heroic game for Fredy. Set piece for HOU, Keller goes up and punches it and goes down hard. He’s OK though.
90 — De la Hoya is now up in the stands with the Texian Army, going from the Latino group to the more multiethnic side . Equal opportunity owner.
We’re in extra time…looks like both teams have resigned themselves to the draw.
Tweet tweet tweeeet…game over 1-1 final. G’night all.
