It was Corporate Partner Day at Starfire. Coach Schmid told the folks that the team’s goal is to make the playoffs, among other things.
So I can be heard on 950 KJR Saturday at 11:30 with Matt Gaschk for the call-in show before the Toronto FC game. I will be live at Jimmy’s on First across from Safeco Field.
Also was asked to talk for a couple of minutes about the scene from the U.S. Open Cup final on Spanish radio KeBuena (1210 AM), which carries Sounders FC games en espan~ol. So if you do listen, I should pop on there about 20 minutes before the match next Wednesday in D.C. Very much looking forward to that trip and that game.
OK back to Sigi, he was asked a really good question about noticing that every trace of the Seahawks game is gone from Qwest — the field was ready and chalked up for soccer yesterday, less than three days after the Hawks’ preseason game Saturday night — and if he feels that it is a sign of respect to Sounders FC that it doesn’t have to play on football lines.
“It’s funny…until you mentioned it now, I didn’t even realize, and I think that’s a tribute to the Seahawks and Sounders organization,” Schmid said. “Stepping out there wasn’t even an afterthought…It shows the level of respect that the Seahawks show the Sounders and the Sounders are obviously as respectful to the Seahawks. That doesn’t exist in some of the other organizations.”
