Sounders FC Members Invited to Select Golden Scarf Recipient
RENTON, Wash. – The Seattle Sounders FC will honor former North American Soccer League (NASL) Sounders in a pre-game ceremony on Saturday, September 19 prior to Sounders FC vs. Chivas USA match.
Sounders FC Alliance members received information today on how to vote for the player, coach or team representative that best represented the Sounders on and off of the field. The recipient with the most votes will receive the team’s Golden Scarf prior to the first kick.
“Without the NASL Sounders, we probably wouldn’t be where we are with soccer in Seattle today,” said Minority Owner and Alliance Chairman Drew Carey. “We’ll never forget the contributions they made.”
Jimmy Gabriel and Jimmy McAlister will be honored on September 19 but were not included on the ballot because they were awarded the Golden Scarf at previous matches.
Membership in the Alliance is complimentary for season ticket holders, and non-season ticket holders can join for an annual fee of $125. Benefits include voting privileges, membership pin, membership card, discount at team shops, an invitation to the annual meeting, electronic newsletters during the season, an annual team report and more.
