Expect Sounders FC to stand pat as roster freeze deadline approaches

The deadline will be here at 2 p.m. our time, as i understand, and after talking to Sigi Schmid and Adrian Hanauer, it seems the team is still working the phones but nothing appears immiment as far as a new player being signed or anyone being traded or traded for.
This from the league bylaws, FYI:

No changes may be made to a team’s active full roster during the period beginning on September 16, 2009 (day after Roster Freeze Date) through the day after MLS Cup. Nevertheless, a team may obtain players in accordance with the extreme hardship rules and procedures to replace players who are injured or otherwise legitimately unavailable after the Roster Freeze Date. Any other replacements after the Roster Freeze Date may only be made in exceptional circumstances in the League’s sole and absolute discretion.

I joked with Coach today about the new addition being Chris Henderson, the team technical director, who was practicing with the team today and looks quite fit.
“We could try to bring him back, although his crossing was a little suspect today,” Schmid said. “He ended up having to pull himself off as winger and go to the other side.
It’s either Chris or Ezra [Hendrickson, assistant coach], I think.”
There was a new face at practice, former MLS veteran Mauricio Cienfuegos. He was on the field with the coaching staff and will be with the team for a couple of weeks, Schmid said. The diminuitive and stocky former LA Galaxy star has been spending time with different clubs in Europe and his tour has brought him here. A native of El Salvador, Cienfuegos reitred from MLS in 2003 and most recently coached in his homeland last year.
“He’ll spend a couple of weeks just observing and things like that,” Schmid said. “I don’t see us making anything [moves]…you never know. We’re happy with what we have. We’re happy with our group.”
