A warm day out at Starfire. There were five goalkeepers in practice — Keller, Boss, Dragavon, Eylander and Evan Bush, who has been with the team before on a trial and is back for now. Bush was Steve Zakuani’s teammate at Akron and played for the USL-1 Cleveland City Stars this season.
All of the keepers were wearing red short sleeve tops. I asked Kasey Keller about it.
“We tried to say that it was too many times that Terry [Boss] was getting hit in training,” Keller joked, “so we needed to get the quarterback no-touch jerseys. But that’s just for Terry. The rest of us, it’s just to be a little bit different.”
NFL quarterbacks typically where red practice jerseys, meaning no contact can be made with them so as not to be injured the week of a game.
