Touchdown, Sounders FC!!!!

Wow, watching this game on TV and as someone commented on the blog, thank goodness the powers that be here have made it important to keep the football lines off the pitch. It just looks so tacky. “Here’s Montero at the 50, to the 40, the 30, the 20, shoots….and scores a touchdown!!!!”
We haven’t seen Fredy Montero hit a goal like that since I believe the Real Salt Lake game March 28. That’s 12 for him this season, and it was from at least 35 yards out.
So this is a good sign for Seattle, which has never lost a match when it scores first. Also we see that Jaqua and Evans are both starting and are on the wings, with Montero and Ljungberg playing up front. So far so good, but we’re only in the 30th minute as I post….
Did anyone catch Ljungberg slapping a high-five with someone in the corner before one of his corner kicks?
Sigi just described Montero’s goal as “a beach ball fluttering in the wind.”
Yes, I already know the Patriots are there at Gillette Stadium tomorrow. But that is still a credit to Sounders FC management for working with MLS to schedule the games on different weekends as Seahawks games, or far enough apart so as to allow crews to remove the football lines, so that this problem never occurs.
Bad break for Seattle early in second half when Gonzalez is called for a handball trying to keep the ball from hitting his face. PK by Shalrie Joseph is good…
How bad is a draw here? Maybe not good. At some point Sounders FC HAS to get three points from a match to make the playoffs.
87th min — Joseph sticks it to the Rave Green again….good feed inside and someone on defense lost his mark. Could have been Riley, looked like Jaqua came in late. A terrible blow there. What looked so promising now looks like a debilitating loss.
90th min — Stephen King is in for Seattle…good to see him in game action for the first time in a very long time.
Did you just see the look on Sigi Schmid’s face?
Game over. That hurts the playoff chances, but we will see how much later.
