Sounders FC practice, Sept. 29, 2009

The fall has arrived, it appears. It was chilly out today. Funny thing — Freddie Ljungberg took off running after doing a few interviews, and I overheard him saying “Jeez, it’s cold!” as he split. The dude is from Sweden! He thinks THIS is cold! It was funny though.
Sounders FC will indeed wear the blue jerseys this weekend. This will be the third time this season that they do so. Seattle is undefeated in blue, with a win over the Los Angeles Galaxy Aug. 15 and a draw at Houston Aug. 23. This time they have to wear blue because the Columbus Crew wear bright yellow at home, too similar to the rave green I suppose.

Today coach Sigi Schmid said he’s not tempted at all to play for a draw in Columbus. He said the team was disappointed in the loss at New England.
“If the referee doesn’t call that PK, I think we’re in a pretty good position,” Schmid said. “That had a big emotional impact upon the game. So now we need to get points.”
Looks like the team is working on a practice game for next Friday, perhaps against the Seattle Wolves, just to keep the players in game shape with an off weekend next week.
Here’s a photo from practice today at Starfire.
