Sigi Schmid’s reaction to the Charlie Davies situation

I asked him about it and how well he and Sounders FC players know Charlie. Here was the response:
“I had Charlie with my under-20 qualifying team. Obviously Brad [Evans] and them know him as well and Patrick Ianni. Everybody is obviously… thoughts and prayers are with Charlie and with his family. We hope that he has a speedy recovery. That’s really important because he was embarking on a very promising career. Things were going well for him. He made a lot of strides on the soccer field and hopefully this is just a temporary situation for him. Obviously the other people involved in the accident, and especially the young woman who passed away, our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family because that’s a very unfortunate and sad situation.”
On a side note, the L.A. Galaxy are apparently doing a postseason tour that will start with a match in Germany on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26) in America against FC Kaiserslautern. The team will leave on Nov. 23 for Germany.
