I’m watching Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC on CBUT and it looks cold in Toronto. The Reds need this win — they are up 1-0 as I write in the 87th minute — but RSL does too, in order to keep its playoff hopes alive. The winner of this one is still in the hunt, the loser is pretty much finished.
Dwayne De Rosario had a breakaway a few moments ago but gave up the ball and Julian De Guzman’s shot was over the goal. Jim Brennan has scored for TFC, which has 36 points at present.
There are some empty seats at BMO. It’s 46 degrees there. By the way its 50 and partly cloudy in Kansas City.
Total desperation time for RSL….They look drained. Jamison Olave fouls Amado Guevara of TFC, and this one should be over any second now….and there is the final whistle. The crazy guys in the supporters group section are going nuts.
Toronto (39 points) closes out the regular season vs. the New York Red Bulls next weekend. Toronto will be pulling for Chicago to beat New England tonight, that game starts now. The Fire clinch a playoff spot with a win.
Something to keep in mind IF Sounders FC draws Chivas USA in the first round of playoffs: Chivas has to play twice next week, on Thursday and Sunday. Could be a factor.
