Sounders FC

Daily coverage of Seattle Sounders FC, MLS and world soccer.

October 17, 2009 at 9:36 PM

The wild, wild MLS West, and beyond

Sounders FC has 44 points. We know it is in the playoffs, but where to be seeded?
Truly Seattle could win the West, or end up a 3 or 4-seed in the East.
Colorado has 40 points after its loss today and holds the seventh spot of eight, but four teams are behind the Rapids with 39 points. They are Toronto, New England, DC United and FC Dallas.
Sizzling Dallas is at Seattle to end the season and win could get them in. But Sounders FC will be playing for a higher seed and to possibly stay in the West.
Toronto FC has the easiest opponent in its finale at New York, but you just never know what TFC team you will get.
Los Angeles and Houston, both with 44 points, face each other tomorrow and the loser will trail Sounders FC based on the head-to-head tiebreaker. Of course, if there is a draw then both teams will have 45 points and be tied for first with Chivas USA.
Chivas USA has two games left, at Chicago, which has still not clinched the No. 2 spot in the East, and vs. Houston.
OK I am crazy from medication so I will say it…You don’t mess with the Zoltan.
