George John of Shoreline (and FC Dallas) talks about his first MLS goal

John, a rookie defender, is in town tonight with his team getting ready to play Sounders FC tomorrow. What a week he’s had. Scored his first MLS goal Saturday, and it was voted Goal of the Week. Coming back home to play the hometown team in front of famly and friends.
“It was definitely a good feeling,” John said. “Whenever you score it feels great, especially it being my first pro goal.”
John got to keep the ball from his goal. He said he’ll probably give it to his parents.
John also said he will return to Dallas with the team whether it makes the playoffs and practice with the team for another week. If FCD doesn’t get in, John will return home in late November.
It’s been a tough year for John. Injuries have cut his playing time to half a season. He injured his hamstring because he favored it after knee surgery before the season, and has hurt it three times this season.
But John has played the full 90 minutes in the past four games, and FC Dallas has won four straight. He said playing at the end of the season is critical, “especially when I’m trying to earn a job.”
