Sounders FC- FC Dallas game thread

Welcome to Dan Courtemanche and Will Kuhns from the MLS communications office.
Golden Scarves were presented to members of the Sounders FC Alliance Council, including several people I recognized. Greg Mockos from ECS and Rachel Hein Molloy, one of my FB pals! Congrats to all!
The fans chanted “World Cup Seattle!” when informed of the U.S. World Cup bid 2018-2022 on the big screen.
DC United and Kansas City have drawn. Toronto FC is out of the playoffs.
Fans in Brougham End just unfurled a gigantic “Sounders Forever” banner. Photo to come later.
3rd — Ljungberg took G. John to school and the kid pushes off on FL, no call. Jaqua is again out on the right wing.
5 – Leo from Zakuani on the touch-and-go, and Leo G. shoots wide right. Zakuani looks up in frustration. Crowd is really into it tonight, it’s been a while since they’ve been able to come to a game.
6- Evans breaks free in the middle and kicks it in for a goal, but he is ruled offsides. Replay confirms it.
Wonder how many folks at the stadium pulled the UO-UW/Sounders FC double.
9th minute: Fans holding up white No. 9 placards in honor of Charlie Davies of the US MNT. He is recovering from major injuries from an auto accident earlier this month.
13 — Harris with a cross scooped up by Keller.
14 — GOAL FC Dallas. Atiba Harris dribbles up, no one marking him tight, and fires from 23 yards out and beats Keller to hie right. 1-0 FCD. Harris shushes the crowd and lookes at them while pointing at his ears, as if to say “Can’t hear you.”
Real Salt Lake is about to defeat Colorado. That means FC Dallas is in the playoffs with a win. I wonder if they know that yet.
25 — Ljungberg good through ball to Montero, but he can’t catch up to it.
26 — Hard foul on Pearce for a tackle on Zakuani and he gets a yellow.
Galaxy lead 1-0 over San Jose.
32 — Zakuani tries to bend a shot in, Montero not there in time for a tip in.
33- George John is down and holding left ankle. Getting helped off the field. There are a few boos.
35 — Zakuani gathers it in on the fly, sends it in to Jaqua and the shot is over the goal.
38 — Jaqua is down after taking a foot to his knee from the sliding Harris. Now he is back up. Harris got a yellow. Near chance in front is saved away.
How crazy is this league? DC United NEEDS Seattle to win or tie for it to have a chance at the playoffs.
40 — Alonso with a shot, misses wide. John is out for FCD, sub in. It’s Kyle Davies.
42 — The corner kick goes to Marshall with the shot, saved.
NOW HEAR THIS….BULLETIN…..

HALFTIME, FCD 1, SEATTLE 0.
Fans were just treated to a video board performance from the team singing “Seattle” by Perry Como karaoke style. “Like a beau-tiful child, growing up, free and wild…”
Half stats: total shots: DAL 3, SEA 6.
51 — Montero shot, saved. Sounders FC will get fourth seed in West with loss. Even a draw gives it a shot at something higher.
54 – Alonso with a drive from top of the penalty area (as KC would say) and Sala with the save.
56 – Ljungberg screams at line judge after FCD player kicks ball off him out of bounds. Freddie is on fire. He just slammed the ball down in front of the side official.
58 — Yellow on Alonso for a high kick and trip, that’s 5. But they don’t carry into the playoffs.
60 — Getting chippy down there. Evans just grabbed Benitez of FCD and yanked him down from behind. Yellow on Evans. Thats 5 on Evans now.
62 – GOAL SOUNDERS FC. Ljungberg crosses far to Montero, who slides and centers for Jaqua for the finish. 1-1.
67 — Zakuani shot saved.
Tonight’s attendance: 33,108. Biggest crowd of the year.
68 – Jaqua with shot, too high.
71 — Montero was on the ground writhing in pain and now is up holding his chest. Looks like he was kicked there.
A draw means Sounders FC can get no higher then the third seed, if LA Galaxy wins.
74 — Seattle was lucky on that shot by FCD. Riley was put badly out of position to defend the shot.
77 — Montero from Ljungberg, but he fumbles it away off his feet. Both teams really attacking each other in the late going.
80 — Jaqua to Montero to Zakuani with the shot….too high and over the goal! That was a huge miss.
81– R. Levesque is about to come on, and here he comes for Zakuani. The crowd is going bananas.
84 — GOAL SEATTLE… Evans from Ljungberg and Sounders FC is on the cusp of winning at home for the first time since July.
85 – Le toux in, Jaqua out.
89 — Wahl in, Montero out.
4 min added time.
AND THAT’S IT. 2-1 Sounders FC first win since July at home.
Players walking around the field throwing and kicking balls into the crowd to thank the fans. Most people still here. There’s a platform in the middle of the field for a ceremony. Drew Carey is on the stage.
Kevin Calabro just thanked the fans. Joe Roth, Drew Carey spoke. Now Adrian Hanauer with an emotional intro of the most winningnest head coach in MLS history… Sigi Schmid.
LA Galaxy won 2-0 and clinch the West. Seattle will be 2 or 3 seed.
Now the players are on stage amid cheers. Keller just called the fans, “the most attractive in MLS.”
Now the players are giving their jerseys to fans on another platform that were previously selected I assume. This is great stuff. Very melodramatic, as booms go off from the top of the stadium.
