Congratulating Hope Solo and Lionel Messi

Had to mention the local first.
Hope Solo was named the 2009 U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year. Solo, an All-American at the University of Washington, is the first keeper to win the award.
She allowed one goal in six international matches this year.
Messi, the FC Barcelona superstar, was named FIFA’s World Player of the Year. No big shocker there. Here’s a photo I believe that Rod Mar took of Messi when FCB was here this past summer.
